About Me

My name is Chris Peters, and I’m a writer, trainer and technologist working in the library and nonprofit sectors.  I’m currently a staff writer and technology analyst at TechSoup.org.  I’ve written two IT workbooks for techies who work in libraries, under the auspices of TechSoup’s MaintainIT project.  I also write articles on nonprofit technology for TechSoup’s Learning Center.  Before TechSoup, I worked at the Washington State Library for two years, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation for five years.

I’m also a member of the Full Circle Fund, an engaged philanthropy group based in the Bay Area.  Through Full Circle Fund, I’m currently leading a team that’s overseeing a grant to the Stride Center.  The Stride Center is a nonprofit social venture training adult students for careers in the technology field.  As part of our grant project, we’re working with the Stride Center to make their funding more diversified and sustainable through corporate partnerships.

In my free time, I like to learn, read, hike, eat and explore my hometown (San Francisco).
